04/16/2008-Called to grain bin fire with propane tanks close. Observed (2) 1000 gallon propane tanks venting from 1 1/2 miles away. Set up 1 mile perimeter safety zone and let tanks finish burning off before entering scene. Click here for a demonstration of what happens when tanks BLEVE (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion). 05/15/2008-Called to structure fire at corner of Carpenter and Hudson. Arrived to find smoke rolling from a one stall unattached garage. Performed horizontal venting prior to entry, and properly extinguished. Cause believed to be faulty electrical outlet.
06/08/2008- Paged to structure fire at 202 E Queen. Arrived to find smoke rolling from a steel building used as a shop. 410 set up in front of building, but had difficulty making entry due to live wires arcing at doorway. 411 got 410 hooked to hydrant and proceeded to rear of building. Ventilation was performed on roof, and entry made from rear. Cause believed to be faulty garage door opener, but officially undetermined.
02-04-2008- Paged to chemical spill at Dura Automotive. Upon arrival, notified chemical was an acid with potential spillage of up to 1000 gallons. Called mandatory evacuation of plant and called
for Jo Daviess County Haz-Mat to respond. Were on scene for over eight hours.

Structure Fire 8-12-08
Paged to structure fire at 233 W Front Avenue. First unit arrived to find flames coming from upstairs window on B side. Paged Warren Fire for a RIT team, and made entry from front door. First team forced back down due to extreme heat and smoke conditions. Performed ventilation on roof and upstairs windows, reentered, and extinguished. Cause determined to be faulty gas space heater.
Tractor Fire 12-01-2008
Paged to tractor fire on Highway 20 East of Woodbine. Had Elizabeth Fire paged when discovered it was in their district. Both departments fought the fire, one from each end. Was difficult to extinguish due to 8 large rear farm tires, plus oil and diesel fuel. F500 was very effective on fire.
STORM!!! July 24, 2009 Storms ravaged the area bringing torential rain and hail, some as large as tennis balls. Crops were demolished, cars were dented, some windshields even smashed. Estimates easily soar into the millions as insurance companies scramble to take care of their clients. The worst swath seemed to be from Shullsburg Wi. to Pearl City, IL. These pictures were taken just outside of Stockton.
